Things that are awesome:  Regency Beauty Institute.  I first caught on to this a few years ago thanks to a tip from a friend, and yesterday I visitied the Ridgedale campus for the first time to get some highlighhts.  This beautiy school offers all the same hair and nail services you would find at a regular salon, only its supervised students doing it, so the prices are way cheaper.  Everyone there is SUP{ER nice, and the environment is really pretty. They brought me numerous cups of coffee and water while I waited for my hair to process, and were super patient, unlike at some professinal salons that just want you in and out.  Ladies, if you haven't given this place a shot, I'd definetly recommend it!!  (There are also Burnsville and Blaine locations..)

Random thought of the day: Over the past several days, I've sold hundreds of cards, bags of candy, and flowers/stuffed animals for Valentines Day but if you ask me... this bear-candy-card tradition doesn't really make sense. If I HAD a hot Valentine (which I don't) I would rather hug HIM than a stuffed bear anyday, candy disappears, flowers die, and cards are so expensive!! Maybe I"m too much of a pragmatist, but I'd be like um... how bout a Starbucks giftcard instead? Espresso powers my LIFE!! :P

Random thought of the day:  On particularly tough work days my dad and I like to play this game called "top worst jobs," where we take turns naming some of the worst jobs we can think of.  Some of the top ones we came up with were 1.) People who have to clean out thick hot water pipes in airforce carrier ships (its a real job) 2). Outhouse emptying service people 3.) Tollbooth worker 4.) Crime Scene Janitor 5). Telemarketer 6). Parking Garage attendant and 7). Car Salesman.  Sometimes thinking of people who have it worse really can help. :P

Random thought of the day:  This week was our last week covering Matthew with the Sunday School kids, and at the end of the visual Bible video, as Jesus is walking away after giving the great commission, this (picture above) was the look on his face... such a look of... complete joy.  For some reason this hit me especially hard this time, I think because I know this is a joy I lack, and would like to have someday.  I probably lack it because of wrong priorities or whatever, but its exciting to see God as being joyful like that, and know that pursuing Him can let me share in this happiness. Its so easy to see God as this stern, somber character who is disappointed in us, so it was nice to see an interpretation of Scripture that challenges this.  I WANT to know this Jesus!!

Book Review: .. This book was only a 6/10 for me.  Basically the story of a girl who is engaged to her high school sweetheart, but it starting to have doubts when suddenly he has a diving accident and becomes a quadripeligic.  She then has to deicde whether she really CAN leave him now, and what to do if she does... Interesting character development and a look and what it would be like NOT to conform to everyones expectations... but this book had a LOT of smutty scenes in it.  I actually tore some pages OUT, to spare the next unwitting person who picks this up at Goodwill after I get rid of it.  Unless you're willing to skip a lot of stuff, skip the book entirely.

Random thought of the day: y: .. It's so weird how even in Minnesota, people get all worked up about upcoming snowstorms.  Today at Target people were literally flooding the aisles, as if they were never going to be able to leave their houses again.  Um hello? It's only snowed a dozen times so far this year... and we live in the land of a thousand snowplows. Deep breaths people.

Random thought of the day: I am NOT a morning person. Every morning I think of new grisly ways to murder my alarm clock, and this morning even the triple espresson I drank with breakfast didn't make a dent for about 4 hours. I think I need to invest in an espresso machine that I can put on my nighstand right beside my bed so I can throw back my shots even before my feet touch the floor.

Random thought of the day: I LOVE writing poetry.  I started writing it in 8th grade (some of those are pretty embarrasing) and have been sort of off and on ever since.  Especially in the past few years, while I have been trying to figure out the next steps in my life, and trying to recover from some pretty serious depression, nothing feels quite so good as being able to put words on paper and create something beautiful. I find music particularly inspiring to my writing- often poems that I write are written as I am listening to something, and I wish that there was a way to have the few people I allow to read them be able to hear what I was listening to at the time, as it creates some of the shape and rhythm to the work.  I always struggle with whether or not to share my poems with the world, because a lot of them are personal... I guess I get the most satisfaction out of just writing for myself. Who knows, maybe I'll end up a lesser version of Emily Dickenson, and people will unearth them all afer I'm gone someday...
