Verse of the day: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV

Random thought of the day: I went to Benni Hana for the first time tonight. My friend Jen invited me to go to her birthday dinner with her family, and it was so much fun! Even though the health-nut in me freaked out a little at all the butter and oil in everything, it was super fun to watch the host make everything, and it tasted great too! The rice and shrimp was awesome! Yay new experiences!

House Quote of the day:
Cameron: "If this were just a regular guy who broke his arm lifting a box you'd
                                                     you'd send him home!"
House: "Oh your'e right, I forgot- all life IS equally sacred. I promise, the next
knitting injury we get in here, we'll be all over it like stink on cheese."

MLS of the day: "Today, while on the bus, I found out the seat I'd taken was the preferred seat of a very hostile and extremely overweight freshman. Instead of letting me find a different place to sit, she half sat on me, and completley ignored my attempts to dislodge myself all the way to school. MLS."

Psych fact of the day: trauma= incident involving real or threatened death/ serious injury to oneself or others AND reacting to this event w intense fear, helplessness, or horror

Verse of the day: If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
8     if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast." (Ps 139:8-10)

Random thoughts of the day: There's something... sad about missing church on Sunday mornings.  As much as I sometimes DONT feel like waking up for it, when I don't go I feel so weird- like I"m playing hooky or something. I spent the night at my friends last night because her birthday party went late, so I didn't make it to Waterbrooke this morning to teach Sunday school.... I miss my kids!! Hopefully my dad did alright w/ out me. :)

Verse of the Day: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

Random thought of the day: At some point I would like to become more domestic.  I went to my friend Jen's birthday today, and they made so many great foods! Chicken, vegetables, curry, two different kinds of decorated cakes... I always admire people who are able to be creative in different ways- someday I will actually sit down with a recipe book and learn how to make something besides spaghetti.

House Quote of the Day:
Wilson: So when patients don't want treatment you shove it down their
throats, but when it might cure their paralysis, 'whoa, better slow down.'
                                        ...That's your philosophy?"
House: Well, it used to be 'live and let live,' but you see I"m in this
embroidery class, and they gave us these really big pillows..."

Psych fact of the day: The death of a parent or patents is the single most stressful life event children can experience

Verse of the Day: Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26 NIV

Random thought of the day:  Had my first grad school interview todsay.  I had not idea what to expect- after all, I didn't have to interview for undergrad, but I think it went pretty well.  It was a group interview process, followed by a writing portion, introduction by the different professors in the program, and a question/answer section with some former students. I liked the campus, but the thing that suprised me was.. the whole secular perspective of the school bothered me more than I thought it would.  There were all these comments about "openmindedness" and "gay/lesbian/bisexual/transexul comunities" and "getting over your religious/cuiltural biases" thrown out there today, and now I can't help but wonder... would I end up beating my head against the wall, as a Christian, trying to get an education there?  I"m all for compassion- we are all sinners who struggle with different things after all, but isn't "openmindedness" just another way of saying you haven't really developed any convictions and/or courage to stand up for what you believe in?  How is that love, holding God's truth from people who need it? I don't know... I sure could use your prayers for wisdom readers.

House Quote of the Day:
Cuddy: "I made sure your first case was an interesting one... the guy is
                                                 orange."
House: "Orange as in the fruit?"
Cuddy: "Orange as in the color."
                                         House: "Well how orange?"
                                         Cuddy: "Exam Room 1."

MLS:  "Today, I left my window open while I was practicing my saxaphone. My drunk neighbors showed their appreciation for the music with a well-aimed firecracker that set my mattress on fire. My landlord has threatened to evict me as she thinks I set it off. MLS."

ScaryFact:  "In severe cases, caffeine overdoese can result in death from convulsions or an irregular heartbeat."

Verse of the Day: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 NIV

Things that are awesome:  Regency Beauty Institute.  I first caught on to this a few years ago thanks to a tip from a friend, and yesterday I visitied the Ridgedale campus for the first time to get some highlighhts.  This beautiy school offers all the same hair and nail services you would find at a regular salon, only its supervised students doing it, so the prices are way cheaper.  Everyone there is SUP{ER nice, and the environment is really pretty. They brought me numerous cups of coffee and water while I waited for my hair to process, and were super patient, unlike at some professinal salons that just want you in and out.  Ladies, if you haven't given this place a shot, I'd definetly recommend it!!  (There are also Burnsville and Blaine locations..)

House Quote of the Day :
                                         Patient's mother: Who ARE you??
House: I'm the doctor who's trying to save your son's life. You're the mom
who's letting him die. Clarification- It's a beautiful thing. "

Fact or Myth?:"A man was denied his request to have Nike's Build Your Own Nikes program write "sweatshop" on his shoes.
Psych fact of the day: Social superheroes= individuals whose misfortunes lead them to social activism that impacts many lives

Verse of the Day: "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13: 6-7 NIV "

Random thought of the day: Over the past several days, I've sold hundreds of cards, bags of candy, and flowers/stuffed animals for Valentines Day but if you ask me... this bear-candy-card tradition doesn't really make sense. If I HAD a hot Valentine (which I don't) I would rather hug HIM than a stuffed bear anyday, candy disappears, flowers die, and cards are so expensive!! Maybe I"m too much of a pragmatist, but I'd be like um... how bout a Starbucks giftcard instead? Espresso powers my LIFE!! :P

House Quote of the day:
                                       Wilson: "What's the other file?"
House: "James J. Wilson. Boy wonder oncologist. Heard of him?"
Wilson: "You know in some cultures its considered almost.. rude for one
friend to spy on another. But then, in Swedish, the word for "friend" can
also be interpreted as 'limping twerp...'"

Truth or Myth?: (Yesterday's answer: Truth. Studies have shown that chewing gum can improve performance on concentration and memory tasks.)

Psych fact of the day: sense of foreshortened future=belief that one will not reach adulthood. Occurs sometimes in children who have experienced trauma.

Verse of the day: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV

Random thought of the day:  On particularly tough work days my dad and I like to play this game called "top worst jobs," where we take turns naming some of the worst jobs we can think of.  Some of the top ones we came up with were 1.) People who have to clean out thick hot water pipes in airforce carrier ships (its a real job) 2). Outhouse emptying service people 3.) Tollbooth worker 4.) Crime Scene Janitor 5). Telemarketer 6). Parking Garage attendant and 7). Car Salesman.  Sometimes thinking of people who have it worse really can help. :P

House Quote of the Day:
(elderly woman patient): "this other movie had that actor in it Ashton
KOOTCUR, and now I think about Ashton ALL THE TIME. Actually, you
remind me of him. Same "bedroom eyes"....
House: "People are always mixing us up."

Fact or Myth?: "Chewing gum improves concentration."

Psych fact of the day: John Walsh= man who's son was murdered and who advocated for other victims by forming the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
